Shelley Correll is an assistant professor in the sociology department at Cornell University where her main research explores the social psychological foundations of gender inequality, examining how cultural understandings about gender differentially influence the educational and career paths of men and women. My current project focuses on how cultural beliefs associated with motherhood impact the job evaluations of women when they give evidence of being a mother.
