| Karen Struening recently published a book entitled New Family Values: Liberty, Equality, Diversity. The goal of her work is to show that political concepts long thought to order the public sphere are also relevant to the private sphere of intimate association. Struening is currently writing a manuscript that defines and contextualizes the "New Rights," or rights concerning sexuality and intimate association. She has taught political and feminist theory at several colleges over the last 12 years, including Kalamazoo College in Michigan and Sarah Lawrence College in New York. During the past three years, Struening and a senior colleague have written grants for non-profit social service agencies that serve single mothers addicted to substances, disadvantaged youth, homeless women and men, jobless men and women and the low-income elderly. |
