Associate Professor, Loyola Marymount University
Angela James is an Associate Professor of African American Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Trained as a sociologist and demographer, Professor James‘ has devoted her life to understanding and working to eradicate racial inequality. Her research expertise includes
the areas of: Racial Inequality, Education, Urban Inequality, and Family Studies. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters, with articles in the Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Comparative Sociology, and Research in Higher Education, and she has been awarded major research grants from The Ford Foundation, Social Science Research Council, and The Haynes Foundation.
James is co-author, along with Donna L. Franklin of the revised paperback edition of Ensuring Inequality, Oxford University Press forthcoming in Summer 2015.
Dr. James holds a Ph.D. degree in Sociology, as well as an M.A. degree in African American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles
