Assistant Professor of Sociology, Indiana University
Jessica Calarco is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Indiana University and the author of Negotiating Opportunities: How the Middle Class Secures Advantages in School (Oxford 2018). Her research focuses on children, families, and inequalities. Past projects have linked social class differences in parenting to social class differences in children’s experiences and outcomes in school. Current projects focus on decision-making during pregnancy and early parenthood and link those decisions to larger patterns of inequality in family life and children’s outcomes.
